Otacuschez*
(O-Ta-Ku-Shay) is about contributing to the local and global community.
By placing social benefits on the top of our list of priorities, our
store adds value to people’s lives while giving you an enjoyable, yet
different place to socialize.
Otacuschez is not
your average café, the bookstore around the corner, or your public
library. Nor does Otacuschez merely combine these three entities
under one roof. We would like to think of Otacuschez as your
“third place” after your home and workplace. It is a space in
which you can feel at ease while we surround you with options of
refreshments to consume, things to do, information to learn, and people
to meet.
Otacuschez hopes
to set the precedent for new and emerging businesses in the region.
Our store is here to remind you that there are consequences to our
actions as individuals and as a community. We have made a
commitment to ourselves, to our employees and to our customers to act as
responsibly as possible, ensuring a healthy future for everyone—and we
urge you to do the same.
Otacuschez
understands that being socially responsible today—supporting
local industry, recycling paper and aluminum, supporting educational,
literacy and empowerment programs, to name a few—will ensure that we
won’t have to waste our resources to fix unintentional mistakes—poverty,
diseases, pollution, etc.—in the future.
By visiting
Otacuschez you can join us in promoting a creative global community of
intellectuals who support mutual understanding and the belief in social
rights and responsibilities. We urge you to consider the effects
of your actions on your community and your environment. Pay us a
visit and we’ll make sure you’ll find something to satisfy your taste
buds as well as your conscience. Bring your friends along
too—we’re all in this together!
Otacuschez was
fully developed by a team of young Saudis who poured their hearts and
souls into it. The team is made up of Abdulaziz Alnaim, Hanaa
Almoaibed, Abdullah Al-Ajaji, and Hamad Al-Saleh. The team later setup
Yareem Restaurants Company to continue growing Otacuschez and develop
other concepts.
*Otacuschez means
that thing or that place that is more than a hobby. To us, knowledge and
responsibility is nearly an obsession. Our name is an amalgamation of
three words:
-
Otacu: Japanese word meaning
“more than a hobby, not quite an obsession”
-
Shay: Arabic word meaning
“thing”
-
Chez: French word meaning
“place”
The side by side integration
signs signify combining the multiple parts of our global community
together through an appreciation for mutual understanding and a desire
to achieve our vision.

Our store will serve as an example: social responsibility is simple yet
rewarding. Every bit of coffee, tea and chocolate that you consume at
our store has contributed to the well-being of a farmer and his or her
family. Your support for Otacuschez ensures that their social rights
are made available to them. Every piece of knowledge that you gain or
pass on will equip you and your colleagues with the tools you need to
function in today’s rapidly changing world. Every book you read or
check out will give you additional knowledge about yourself, your
community, and your neighbors across the world. Every piece of art on
our walls not only serves as inspiration, but will raise our local
profile as innovative and forward looking citizens of the world.

Promoting a global community of
creative intellectuals who support mutual understanding and the belief
in social rights and responsibilities.
